TROPICAL CRUISE: ISLANDS with Birds, Giant Turtles and Sea Lions

During your tropical cruise you should visit as many islands as possible.

Puerto Ayora is the most important harbor of the Archipelago. In this part

of the Santa Cruz Island there are hotels and restaurants. And tourist

attractions such as: Galapagos Green Turtle, Galapagos Giant Turtle,

Galapagos Sea Lion, Swallow-Tailed Gull, Land Iguana and Red-Billed Tropic

Bird. This humid zone features ferns and Scalesia trees.

Isabela Island is famous by its natural diversity. Your naturalist

will tell you about the whale watching program.

Hiking up to Darwin Lake will allow you to see the unique vegetation

and the landscape. You can see here: Galapagos Penguin, Galapagos

Fur Seal, Galapagos Sea Lion, Land Iguana, Galapagos Giant Tortoise,

and Pacific Green Turtle.

The western coast of the island is a nesting place for flightless

cormorants and pelicans.

San Salvador Island’s vegetation has been altered from its natural

state by feral goats.

Here you will find Galapagos Fur Seal, Galapagos

Penguin and Galapagos Hawk.

In the Floreana Island there are: Greater Flamingo, Red-Billed Tropic

Bird and Galapagos Sea Lion.

One of the largest

communities of marine

iguanas, sea lions and

flightless cormorants

can be found on

Fernandina Island.

Genovesa Island is a

paradise for sea birds: Masked Booby, Red-Footed Booby, Frigate Bird,

Red-Billed Tropic Bird and Swallow-Tailed Gull. Also, look for marine

iguanas and sea lions.

Large species of the giant Opuntia cactus are characteristic for Santa Fe

Island. Here you can also observe land iguanas, rice rats and sea lions.

With its fresh water lakes, the southwestern part of the San Cristobal

Island has abundant vegetation. The animal species are: Galapagos

Sea Lion, Frigate Birds, Blue-Footed Booby and Galapagos Giant Tortoise.

Espanola Island is relatively flat. On the west there is large diversity

of wildlife: Masked Booby, Blue-Footed Booby, Red-Billed Tropic Bird,

Waved Albatross, Marine Iguana and Galapagos Sea Lion.

There are tortoises breeding

programs on Santa Cruz, San

Cristobel, and Isabela

islands.

Because for many years the

Galapagos Flora and fauna

developed in isolation from

the rest of the world the

species unique to the Galapagos have evolved in an environment in which

there were few natural predators.
